Huo Yong

Director of Department of Cardiology and Heart Center, Peking University First Hospital 

Professor HUO Yong is currently the Director of Department of Cardiology at Peking University First Hospital, Vice President of China Cardiovascular Association (CAA), President of Asian Society of Cardiology (ASC), and President of World Association of Chinese Cardiologist (WACC). 

As specialist in cardiovascular medicine and Immediate Past President of Chinese Society of Cardiology, Professor Huo has made outstanding contributions to the national cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease prevention and control.

Professor Huo has high reputation in the area of percutaneous coronary intervention since he contributes to its popularization, standardization and development in China. He established the whole system of China Chest Pain Center accreditation and promoted regional STEMI care network construction in China.

Professor Huo’s another major research and clinical interest is H-type hypertension and stroke prevention and takes an international leading position. He demonstrates the major causes of high stroke incidence in China and then provides a new, simple and effective treatment strategy with folic acid supplementation of stroke prevention in Chinese hypertensive patients.

Professor Huo is in charge of the construction of national cardiovascular disease quality control and specialist training and certification system. He leads to develop a number of national standards for disease diagnosis and treatment, guidelines and consensus of cardiovascular disease.

Professor Huo has led serial national funding projects of coronary heart disease and hypertension. His research has been widely published in over 150 leading peer-reviewed medical journals such as JAMA with IF over 650. He has also developed 68 academic monographs on interventional cardiology and cardiovascular medicine. Additionally, he had 6 patents of invention and won the second award of the Scientific and Technological Progress of the State twice and several other awards.
